Not sure about blogging?

Last week I ran a workshop for a group of Cumbrian businesses called 'Social Media - A Strategic View.' The session was run in conjunction with Carlisle & Oxford based web company Hydrant.

Most of the people on the workshop were pretty up to speed on a lot of social networking - nearly all had Twitter and Facebook accounts that were active. The point of the exercise was to drill down into more detail about integrating these tools into their marketing and communication strategies.

The biggest stumbling block for some people was the concept of blogging. Questions like, 'how is a blog any different to a news section on my website?'; 'what's the point?' came up. So I thought I'd list a couple of good resources for people to look at to get the skinny on the world of blogging and the impact they can make.

I thought I'd start with a simple little video clip - Blogging in Plain English. It's very basic, but it does give a good explanation of how they work.

Blogging in Plain English

Pro Blogger - the blogger's blogger

This is a great site to tell you everything you could ever possibly want to know about blogging - from how to get started through to how to make a living from it.  An excellent resource for anyone considering taking the blogging plunge.
