Speaking to Cumbrian women in business

This week I've been invited to speak at the Cumbrian Women in Business event on 25th Feb. The subject is Social Media Marketing and the small business.

I'm really looking forward to it - for several reasons.

1. It's only for big companies - this is an argument I hear a lot while I'm out and about talking to small businesses in the region. I hope to show that it's a set of marketing tools small businesses have been waiting for. Fast, inexpensive and highly effective. So I hope to have the chance to show that these techniques are for small businesses, and should be used by small businesses.

2. It's only for young people - again, a false assumption. The fastest growing demographic group using Facebook and Twitter is the over 50s.

3. I don't understand technology - Forget technology - Social media is not about technology, it's about comunication, technology is simply a delivery vehicle.

If I can get these key points across during my presentation, I'll be happy. It will also be great to meet up with business colleagues, and meet new people.

So if you read this in time, come along to the event. You can find full details at: www.cumbriachamber.co.uk
