BBC 2 Looking for family businesses in Lancashire & Cumbria

I'm sure you've seen those TV programmes where a 'business expert' goes into a business and offers advice on how to change things for the better. Sometimes it's a very angry and 'sweary' chef, others have had a 'no-nonsense' intervention from the fabulous Mary Portas. I suppose you either love them or hate them.

Less than 13% of family businesses survive beyond the second generation

Anyway, the point of this post is to mention that BBC2, in conjunction with Twofour Broadcast, are putting together a series in this format that will focus on the trials and tribulations of family businesses. Apparently less than 13% of family businesses survive beyond the second generation. Around 30,000 UK family run businesses end up closing because they can't find someone to take over.

The programme makers are looking to hear from family run businesses in Lancashire and/or Cumbria to take part. If this sounds like something you may be interested in, then the contact details are: (these are the only contact details I have I'm afraid)

Naomi - Tel: 0207 438 1812 or email: familybusiness@twofour.co.uk

That's all for now.
